My name is Ashley Boquist or Ashley Bo. or A.Bo. or just plain Bo. (pretty much whatever my friends are in the mood for calling me that day) I liked to think that I was the only Ashley Boquist in the world, until recently, when suddenly there were two results for “Ashley Boquist” on Facebook. I am slowly coming to terms with this, but in the meantime, thanks for checking out my blog. I hope to provide you with some insight into my perspective on life while keeping it light and entertaining, much like the pages of my ever favorite chick lit novels.
I was born and raised in Wyomissing, PA (not Wyoming as many people tend to mistake) a small suburb about an hour Northwest of Philly. I broke free from the confines of small town life and headed to Virginia Tech for my first three years of college, where I majored in English Pre-Law and Fashion Merchandising. I then transferred to Penn State for my senior year to obtain the publishing emphasis within their English program. Thus, I am a self-proclaimed “Nittany Hokie” as a testament to my alleigance to both schools and their awesome football teams.
At some point I decided moving to Charleston, SC was a great idea and would be the ideal place for me to live and work. I never visited Charleston prior to this creed, it was just a gut feeling I had. It is a sunny, historic, coastal town with palm trees - how could it not be? I interviewed with Charleston Home + Design Magazine (www.charlestonhomeanddesign.com) and landed the much coveted role as editorial assistant. Since then, I have been promoted to copy editor for the magazine, working side by side with the editor-in-chief to write and edit the entire publication. With the two of us and only two graphic designers, it is a daunting task, but we manage to have incredible fun with our work and are quite proud of what we accomplish each quarter.
